Having a new baby is one of the most emotional and fleeting times of your lives. The sweet yawns and stretches, tiny fingers and toes, and the way they fit perfectly in your arms only lasts for a short time. It all changes so quickly.

There are three typical options for newborn photography: Fresh 48, Lifestyle Newborn, and Studio Newborn. Each session documents sweet babies in a unique way, and the best session depends on the kind of portraits and memories you want to preserve.

What is a Fresh 48 session?

Fresh 48 sessions occur within 2 days after your baby is born. They include those first moments with your newborn baby in the hospital (or wherever you choose to have baby). Common images include: baby in bassinet, mom in hospital bed cradling baby, siblings meeting baby, both parents, etc. They preserve those first moments of your sweet baby ---- memories that are often a blur.

I have photographed numberous Fresh 48 sessions in Clarksville at Tennova, Nashville at Vanderbilt, St. Thomas, Tristar Hendersonville, and Centennial, and Fort Campbell at BACH.

What is a Lifestyle Newborn Session?

Lifestyle newborn sessions take place within the comfort of your home when baby is 2-3 weeks old. The session is very relaxed and lightly posed, focusing on a natural connection with baby and telling your story. The setting is your real life ---- baby's nursery, your couch, your bedroom, siblings rooms, front porch, etc.

What is a Studio Newborn Session?

A studio newborn session takes place in my in home studio in Clarksville, TN off of exit 11. Baby is typically wrapped, and we focus on more posed images. They take place when baby is between 1-3 weeks old so baby is sleepy. You can expect swaddled baby only poses (in baskets or on a backdrop), coordinated color palettes, and artistic composition of parents+family.

If you're expected and located in Clarksville, Nashville, or Fort Campbell, I would love to help you decide which newborn session is right for you family. I have even bundled a few in the past.

I recommend reaching out in your 2nd trimester to book since newborn sessions usually book a few months in advance. Of course, if you have already had your baby, I will always do my very best to get you in, or recommend other amazing Clarksville newborn photographers!

This time is fleeting. Be sure to document it.
